Overall: What’s the saying? Less is more? That’s the approach to this super sleek minimalistic bottle design..but only the bottle design. A touch of elegance complete with one of the heavier toppers in the bourbon world. No need to include any more than the necessary information when there’s confidence in what’s in the bottle. The notes above speak for themselves but let me tell you, the nose is immediately inviting and followed by a completely smooth and flavorful palate rounded out by that high rye, viscous and long lasting finish.

I had the great opportunity to sit one-on-one with Johnathan Crocker on a video call and discuss the brand and what Frank August represents. The conversation flowed and to say I’m excited for what is to come, is such an understatement. While the name Frank August doesn’t represent a single person or a distillery resurgence, it does stand for the history of America as a whole. Think art, architecture, technology, history, music and a melting pot of different cultures. “Be Frank” - I urge you to give their website and Instagram page a look and a follow.

⬆️ TRADE-UP TUESDAY ⬆️

This week may have been one of the biggest weeks for the Trade-Up project. Let’s just hit the ground running here! I’m only going to announce a couple trades as the Old Ezra 7 and EH Taylor SmB are still in my possession, but this really created a resurgence in the project.

Obviously the Weller Full Proof SP and the Weller 12 drew a ton of attention and for the right reasons. Here we go:

  1. Weller 12 was traded out for an Old Fitzgerald 11 Year. As you can imagine, I was stoked to add this to the project.

  2. Weller Full Proof SP was traded out for the following: Smoke Wagon Uncut Batch 120, Weller Antique 107 and two Henry McKenna 10 Year BiB.

This project took a bit of a turn from Trade-Up to Trade-For-Many haha.

What do you think of these moves?

⬆️ TRADE-UP TUESDAY ⬆️

With an Orphan Barrel Fable & Folly in hand along with a Blanton’s Single Barrel Pick and an Eagle Rare Single Barrel Pick, I had quite a few offers filling my inbox. This week will be broken up into 3 separate trades:

  1. Eagle Rare Single Barrel Pick was traded for an Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength. A pretty even swap in my eyes but based on retail valuations, I feel it was still considered a “Trade Up”.

  2. Blanton’s Single Barrel Pick was sent out for an EH Taylor Small Batch. Now, before people lose their minds, please remember I’m not just doing this for a crazy hard to find bottle, but also to help people. The big picture is still being painted.

  3. Orphan Barrel Fable & Folly was traded for a Weller 12 Year & a Weller Full Proof Single Barrel Selection. Retail valuations, a beautiful swap here!

So here we are…a bottle of JTS Brown has since turned into: Old Ezra 7 Year, EH Taylor Small Batch, Weller 12 Year and a Weller Full Proof Single Barrel Selection. Not only have I been trading up, but I’m building another small collection here.

Who’s already excited for next week’s reveal?
